BioTech Sphere Research Signs the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)

As a pioneering healthcare organization dedicated to research development, consulting services, and collaborative research programs, we aim to promote scientific innovation while ensuring that research assessment practices are fair, inclusive, and transparent. Our mission is to empower progress through cutting-edge research and innovation, particularly in improving access to quality healthcare.

The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) is a global initiative dedicated to improving research assessment practices by reducing reliance on journal-based metrics, such as Journal Impact Factors, and emphasizing the quality and impact of individual research contributions. BioTech Sphere Research officially signed DORA in February 2025, aligning with our commitment to responsible and equitable research assessment. By endorsing DORA, we reaffirm our belief that research should be evaluated based on its intrinsic merit, societal impact, and scientific contributions, rather than solely on journal-based metrics. This approach enables our researchers to explore diverse publication avenues, including open-access platforms and multilingual journals, thus broadening the reach and impact of our findings.

To implement DORA’s principles, BioTech Sphere Research will:

  • Establish clear guidelines for research assessment that prioritize quality, rigor, and impact over traditional citation-based metrics.
  • Provide training and workshops for researchers, evaluators, and stakeholders on best practices in research assessment.
  • Foster open science initiatives, encouraging accessibility and inclusivity in research publications.
  • Review and refine our internal research evaluation policies to align with DORA’s principles.
